Ayurveda is a natural system of medicine originated in India more than 3000 years ago. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words Ayur which means life and Veda which means science or knowledge), thus Ayurveda defined as the knowledge of life.
It is the Hindu system of medicine which is based on maintaining the balance of the five element of nature (water, earth, fire, air and ether). Ayurveda mentions three types of physical constitution or 'doshas' in the human body namely wind (vaata),
bile (pitta), and phlegm (kapha).
Ayurveda treatments starts with an internal purification process, followed by a special diet, herbal remedies, massage therapy, yoga and meditation.
